Atkins Diet Maybe Just As Helpful in Lowering Cholesterol As A Low Fat Diet
Tuesday May 18, 2004
A study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine today indicates that low carbohydrate diets, such as the Atkins diet, may be just as effective in lowering blood fats as individuals following a low fat diet regimen. The results of this study indicate that individuals following a low carbohydrate diet had lower triglyceride levels and higher levels of HDL, the good cholesterol than those following a conventional low fat diet. Although more research needs to be done, low carbohydrate diets may be especially beneficial for diabetics, who are especially prone to high triglyceride levels. Read about it here.
