A Virtual Tour of the New Food Pyramid
Friday August 19, 2005
In case you haven't heard, a new food pyramid has been released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The last food pyramid was issued by the USDA in 1992 as a guideline for good nutrition and included a generous helping of carbohydrates, fruits, and vegetables. It excluded fats and oils (or in very small amounts) and grouped lean meats and nuts with red meat, which were recommended in smaller servings. This improved food pyramid takes into account that some fats and meats are good for you and not all complex carbohydrates are good for you. The USDA has dedicated a website to the new food pyramid..
