Atherogenic

Definition: Atherogenic is an adjective used to describe factors that have the ability to promote the development of atherosclerosis, the formation of a thick, plaque-induced containing cholesterol and other lipids.

Some factors that have the potential to be atherogenic include cigarette smoking, insulin resistance, a diet high in trans fats, and small, dense LDL.
