Definition: Exogenous cholesterol is cholesterol that is obtained from outside of the body. This type of cholesterol is usually obtained through diet – especially in diets high in cholesterol and saturated fats.

Common foods that are high in cholesterol and saturated fats include organ meats, animal meats, and processed foods.
